Please Help with this unstoppable spam

  • I’m getting multiple spam accounts created per minute. I’ve installed several plugins such as wangguard, akismet, antispam bee, spam destroyer, Stop Spammers Spam Control, HoneyPot, wordfence security and sweetcaptcha- which I believe was causing spam popups; but none of them worked, those accounts are still coming through. I even went to the wordpress setting page and unchecked “Anyone can register”, nothing helped nor slowed it down. I don’t know what else to do, please help.

    Those are all traffic handlers or directors of one kind or another, but nothing there indicates the level of .htaccess security that can actually stop traffic at the gate and service doors. So, try BulletProof Security and its several permissions recommendations along with changing your SQL (database) password at the server and in wp-config.php. Also, if you wish, BPS can be used to change your table_prefix to help stop any intrusion you might have going on there.

    note: Always make a complete database backup prior to any changes.
