Please – Pictures In Sidebar?

  • I’m not up to speed on all the technical terms, etc, I need some very basic, clear help, please ??

    What I want to do: have a folder full of pictures I choose and upload to my server. Have thumbnails of those appear via widget on my sidebar. Random if possible.

    For Flickr, I think I’d have to upload all the pictures I want to use – some are not my own – and don’t care to have them public on there. So, I want my own control.

    So, is there a way to do it that even I can understand? I throw myself on your mercy.

  • you really should find a plugin for this (and read the descriptions closely to make sure it does what you need), start here:

    You can use a plugin – check out the plugin directory (click extend on the menu bar on this site). just search for gallery, photo or something like that and pick your favorite!

    I’ve looked — and it seems to be made up of Flickr addons — which won’t do since my choice of pictures must be public on Flickr and therefore can be censored/restricted. The other options seem really arcane and not explained well — gallery 2 which seems to have written their instructions as if one already knew everything about it and didn’t need the instructions to begin with!

    I suppose what I’m saying, in frustration, is can anyone suggest a specific cure or plug in that can simply plug in photos into a sidebar, no massive brain surgery required, I’d appreciate it!
