Folks, before I begin my query, I want to apologise for asking this question for the 9,879th time!! I read almost everything that WO users had to say about the various webhosts but I could not satisfy myself with their replies. Hence I am beginning this thread with an aim to get the best results/comments from some of the WP members. Please bear with me.

I am not too happy with my present host provider called Webhostplus.com. I have been associated with them for 3 years (and they have changed managements over the time). My website has faced a number of downtimes in the past few days and frankly I don’t want to be with them anymore even if it means losing my money.

I am looking for a webhost who can offer the following features:

    atleast 1GB HDD/atleast 4GB data transfer/Unlimited Domain hosting/unlimited sub-domain hosting/unlimited FTP accounts/CPanel(most important)/unlimited emails/FREE website transfer (most important)/etc.

Please suggest a place which offers all these at around $5-6 p.m. I like what Dreamhost.com is offering & can consider going with them but I have question. I read someplace that they do not offer CPanel which I am used to now. What diff does it make without a CPanel? Regardless of the orientation, will it affect my website after the transfer?

Let me know your comments/suggestions folks. All comments will be welcomed.

  • I should be up by next week, at the latest in a fortnight (I have to organise my payment first). Then I’ll wait a few days to see what the service is like, and THEN I’ll let you know here!

    Well I’m finally online ??

In the end I went with Jumba as per doctoralf (and many others’) suggestions, and they’re incredible! I registered on a day when one of their servers went down, and I still had my domain ready and up in less than a day.

The prices suggest average-to-bad support, but all of my e-mail inquiries were answered in less than half an hour. And I know it doesn’t quite match up with your requirements, bhoosan, but you can purchase more disk space and bandwidth for a very small fee.

    https://www.jumba.com.au

Go for it, web hosting newbie recommended ^_^

Look at these two also, offers “Free & Paid” Hosting Services.

    1. ByetHost

    2a. XMGHosting (Paid sevices)
    2b. XMGFree

I would say worth to check.

    Rok,
    based on your other post:

I wouldn’t dare even to mention that host…

    Nearlyfreespeech.net

    Lightning fast customer support 24/7

only pay for what you use.

kinda complex setup, but very flexible and effective.

    NEVER any downtime.

you only need like 1 dollar to get started.

    Bhooshan,
DreamHost is by far one of the best hosting provider’s I have used. CPanel does not make much of a difference, infact, I think DreamHost’s custom control panel is better at managing a large number of domains, accounts, etc. Not only do they have all of the features you could use (php 4/5, mysql, etc.) but their storage and bandwidth increases every week at no additional cost to you! (You can also host an unlimited number of domains).

I resell iPowerWeb’s hosting, and I also recommend them (iPower is a subsidary of iPowerWeb… funny huh?). Lots of features, lost of storage and a great control panel. (10GB storage 250GB bandwidth for 7.95/mo!)

I guess the leader in hosting is 1and1… but I have never personally used them before, so I cannot recommend them or say they are a bad host… maybe you should take a look at them too?

I have found these guys pretty good for webhosting during my recent switch https://www.hostwey.co.uk/

Their support usually respond within three hours or so, it’s a php/mysql set up with a load of pre-installed software – such as wordpress – that you activate through a plesk backend.

I use 1and1 for domain registration and email hosting as the email bandwidth offered is greater and I like all my domains to be in one place – but I felt the hosting package hostwey offered was better for blogging.

    Dear All,

My former company would have had a perfect web hosting solution so I had a quick search on the web in this issue. At the end of the day I found Netfirms web hosting which met with our requirements. The Advantage Plan of Netfirms costs nearly USD 10 and it is including the following services:

    2 Domain Names (New Registration)
Disk Space: 20000 MB (20 GB), Monthly Data Transfer: 750 GB, Multiple Websites (3)
    100 E-mail Accounts (500 MB Each), Full SMTP / POP3 E-mail, WebMail Access
MySQL 4.1 (30), phpMyAdmin, PHP 4/5, Ruby on Rails, Python, SSH (Shell Access), Perl (CGI-BIN), Server Side Includes, ModRewrite, MS FrontPage Exts., Custom Error Pages
    Pre-installed WordPress and many others.

So please have a look on this site also.

    Hi,

Till now i find a very good host https://www.smartagehost.com
Here you can host unlimited domains with 75GB webspace and 1000GB bandwidth per month. I think nothing beats them and the price is $10.99 per month.

I am there client for last 2 yrs and hosting about 30 domains on one package and they are great.

    Genie

as i have hosting in Dream host with 20 gb space i pay only 23 us$ per year using this code :HULK97

Sorry for the delay. None of you mentioned it but I went ahead and signed up with Bluehost.com. I liked their focussed plan and I have been experiencing trouble-free service so far. Many thanks to all of you ??
