Please update the database of the User Access Manager.

I’m starting a new thread. The original was flagged as “resolved”. It wasn’t. Here’s that post:

In a nutshell, there is a message appearing on every page of the UAM functionality that says:
Please update the database of the User Access Manager. Click here to proceed
There are other more threatening looking messages about “Reset” or “Update” the plugin’s database contents which appear briefly after updating the plugin.
What everyone (there are others on the original post) wants to know is what does this message mean and what are the risks (since it seems to be a one way trip). We all want this message to go away without damaging our websites. Can you advise us what to do?
