    Hi guys,

We’ve had major performance problems on sites with thousands of events because all data and custom fields are stored in wp_postmeta. Could you please considering switching to a “custom post type + custom db table” model? This is how https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/geodirectory/ and many other plugins do it now. It means you still get all the benefits of using a CPT (core WP functions, the loop etc) but it scales and performs waaaay better.

Here’s an article which explains the performance difference vs. using postmeta: https://wpgeodirectory.com/advanced-custom-fields-scalability/

Sugar Calendar does it this way and performs much better than TEC, but it lacks the features you guys have

  • Hello,

    Thanks for the feedback.

Are devs are working on a modified way to enhance the database structure for large event sites in one of the upcoming releases.

    Thanks,
    Brendan

@bskousen3 This is great news, thanks! Do you have an ETA? And is there any way I could get notified when the update is released?

    Cheers
