How are we supposed to know we can update?

My boss just sent me a zip of an old version of this plugin to install on all of our sites. 1.0 is older than 1.0. Weird stuff.

I can only imagine it takes some trouble to go through to get this right, but, please, do it.

    Hi @patrick1994,

Previous iterations of the plugin only had minor changes which did not impact functionality and did not require a version change. You should be safe to use the old version that you were sent, however you can also get the latest version any time from https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/404-to-homepage.zip too.

Thanks for providing an explanation. I am not owed one, I appreciate it.

While I agree with the principle, I disagree with your assessment that 100% of the updates were minor based on these update descriptions:

    • [4 years ago] Don’t redirect wp-admin 404s
    • [2 weeks ago] Avoid possible XML redirects
    • [5 months ago] Change to template_redirect [that was in response to a huge post describing redirection stuff]

We can leave it at that, all I did was ask.

I subscribed to the RSS feed for the next time an update comes out where we disagree on how minor it is.

[Edit: fixed wrong times in the list ?? ]

No problem @patrick1994, I appreciate your thoughts on this! I’ll keep this in mind for future changes even if they are non-essential.
