  • I had same problem and had to deactivate the plugin. What can I do???

Hi there – yes, I am encountering the exact same issue as this after updating the plugin too. A quick fix would be appreciated!

Hi dafatauser, did u try to activate the plug in again ?

Because I am afraid of deactivating, If I would loose all setting af that plug in..

    Did you experience that ?

    kind regards David

davidthor2: no, sorry, I didn’t. I am customer of IONOS and they deactivated the plugin to let the homepage work again.

    Ok thanks for info ??

I just activated the plugin again. All settings are unchanged. And it seems that everything is working again without problems. Maybe they fixed. I could confirm all reservations and it isn’t appearing any problem.

I awoke to the same issue.

I had to rename the plugin folder to get the website accessible at all. After renaming the folder back to the original name, I no longer have a White Screen of Death, but warning messages were still displayed. One more round of renaming the folder, restoring its original name, and activating it fixed the warning display issue, although the WordPress plugins manager still warns me that ‘The plugin generated 258 characters of unexpected output during activation. If you notice “headers already sent” messages, problems with syndication feeds or other issues, try deactivating or removing this plugin.’

This is not the first time this plugin has broken this website with an update.

It did it also, I had to deactivate the plug in on my host site because I could not log into the dashboard on wordpress site..

Deactivate and activate was the magic trick and all plug in settings and themes are saved.

so thanks for the help guys, And fivestar restaurant u suck in support! I wrote u email, Facebook messages, chat on your website, and u don’t replay.. get it fixet and be supportive (or exlplain it in your email with your update details)

    Regards David

I second that @karenwallace – the testing of this plugin doesn’t seem great when updates have caused problems on several occasions. Plugin tends to work fine most of the time, but updates frequently cause problems.

Hi, can anyone tell me if reactivating the plugin after disabling is safe? Given that this broke my website, I am reluctant to reactivate if the same problem will happen again – hopefully plugin authors will fix the bug soon.

    Hi all,

Thanks for reporting this and sorry for the trouble you’re having. It looks like it’s happening because we rely on the activation hook (i.e. when the plugin deactivates and then reactivates, like it normally does when you update a plugin in WordPress) for migration, which is not firing for automatic updates. We’re currently working on a fix. In the meantime, if you deactivate and then reactivate the plugin, it should clear the warnings (and any associated issues).

Hi All, Above solution won’t work for me. I tried multiple times to deactivate/activate etc. but still the error about a wrong variable type is present.

I did create a workaround, so the plugin is still working (commented out the problematic lines of code). I found one problem now and that’s confirmed reservation are not directed to my custom confirmation page but a user is returned to the original reservation page.

Is it possible to just copy an older plugin to the wordpress site without loosing any reservation and customization(settings)?

Similar problem here. Deactivated plugin but I’m not able to reactivate. Getting the following error:

    Fatal error: Uncaught TypeError: count(): Argument #1 ($var) must be of type Countable|array, null given in /var/www/vhosts/sixmilepub.com/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/restaurant-reservations/includes/PaymentManager.class.php:422 Stack trace: #0 /var/www/vhosts/sixmilepub.com/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/restaurant-reservations/includes/PaymentManager.class.php(96): rtbPaymentManager->load_basics() #1 /var/www/vhosts/sixmilepub.com/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/restaurant-reservations/restaurant-reservations.php(116): rtbPaymentManager->__construct() #2 /var/www/vhosts/sixmilepub.com/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/restaurant-reservations/restaurant-reservations.php(512): rtbInit->boot() #3 /var/www/vhosts/sixmilepub.com/httpdocs/wp-admin/includes/plugin.php(2286): include_once('...') #4 /var/www/vhosts/sixmilepub.com/httpdocs/wp-admin/plugins.php(191): plugin_sandbox_scrape() #5 {main} thrown in /var/www/vhosts/sixmilepub.com/httpdocs/wp-content/plugins/restaurant-reservations/includes/PaymentManager.class.php on line 422

We just released an update that will stop the warnings experienced with automatic updates.

@jarkorozemond Commenting out the code will definitely negatively impact the functionality of the plugin. So just use the new version. And for future reference, past versions are available here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/restaurant-reservations/advanced/, and downgrading to one will not affect any of your data or settings.

    Hi,
The update 2.3.3 keeps throwing the error and had to downgrade to 2.2.12 before it worked again. Is it safe to use 2.2.12 until the problem is completely solved?
