Plug-in Development Ideas

  • Hey,

    I am trying to learn more about WordPress plugin development, but I’d like to actually work on something for inspiration and motivation. I just can’t come up with ideas.

    Anyone have some plugin ideas? Maybe something you’re looking for or something that’s useful or fun?

    I hope this is appropriate to post on this forum.

    There are all sorts of forum topics of people looking for plugins that do one thing or another. A lot of them get answered with suggestions, but a few end up unanswered or replied with some sort of “you’d probably need to custom code that”. Find a few of those and address a need that appeals to you. I’m sure at least the OP would be eternally grateful.

    FWIW, helping out in the forums can be a good way to learn more about WP. I always see questions where I don’t know the answer, but I think I know how to find out. Over time, I’ve learned a huge amount in an effort to find things out for others. In some cases the solution could take the form of a very basic plugin which the OP can install.
