• I can not update my plugins OR install new ones. I saw a previous post that said to deactivate them and then update. That didn’t work. I also saw to edit a line 149, however, I have no idea what that means or where to find that. Can some one please explain to my simple self how to fix this? I REALLY need to fix this as soon as possible.

    If you have FTP ability you can manually update your plugins. If you don’t have that you can ask your hosting company for those credentials; most hosts should be able to provide that information for you.

    How do I manually update the plugins?

    Can you explain what ‘That didn’t work’ means?

    What errors did you receive? What have you done to try and resolve the issue? What happens when you try and install a new plugin?

    @ Evan
    I get the same error… “Unable to delete old plugin”. The only thing I know to do was to deactivate all of the plugins and then try to update them. That still didn’t work – got the same error as above.

    Well I found the wp-admin/includes/file.php and checked in it and it already says

    if ( empty( $filename ) || ‘.’ == $filename || ‘/’ === $filename ) {

    I tried logging off wordpress and logging back on, then attempting to update a plugin. Get the same error:

    The update process is starting. This process may take a while on some hosts, so please be patient.
