I am having difficulty uploading Ultimate Smart Update Pinger. I apparently was loaded before and tells me the folder already exists.

    Unpacking the package…

    Installing the plugin…

    Destination folder already exists. /home/prich/public_html/wp-content/plugins/ultimateplugins.com-smart-update-pinger/

    Plugin install failed.

If it is already loaded in why does it not show up as active or give me the option to activate in the plugin menu. Not sure how this should be working with my FTP program (Filezilla), do I need to use that to change the folder settings? and How?
    Thanks

  • Have you confirmed that this plugin is compatible with WP 3.0?

The plugin developer said there should be no compatibility issue, i have explained the problem but says I may be something that I did in the upload process. Not sure where else to look for problem, where would I check to see that the folder already exists?

The folder you uploaded into the plugins directory is actually the wrong one. The correct folder is actually a subdirectory of the folder you uploaded. It is called:
    “ultimate-plugins-smart-update-pinger”

    You uploaded it’s parent:
    “ultimateplugins.com-smart-update-pinger”

Try that and see if it works better. Also, be sure to follow the installation instructions. There are some additional steps you need to follow.

    Thank You,

I was able to upload the file manually. I had been trying to upload wrong file and wrong folder.
    Thanks for help
