    Hi
I have been using yuour plug in for a while with no problems.
Suddenly my search didn’t work and the support fot the theme said to deactivate all plugins and put them on one by one.

I’m afraid that it was your plug in that caused the conflict.

I have deactivated this plugin on the main site, but hoping that you can find a solution.
It is still on the staging site that I used to figure it out.

    Thank you
    Amy

    Hi

    Thank you for using Hide-Categories.

Could you exlain what exactly happens with your search?

Same happens to me. Had to roll back to v. 1.2.3. The search results simply don’t include the categories that is set to be hidden.

hi thanks for reply, I was away over xmas
I have now deleted this plugin

Basically when you put a search in the search bar nothing came up, I do have a screen shot as I thought it was the theme and they were looking at it. After all plugins were switched off, this one was highlighted.
If you had a hidden category, no products that were in that category were found in the search.

I can send screen shot if you want, but I have now hidden the categories via snippets so do not need the plug in.

    thanks

Do you mean search bar on front or in the dashboard?

    Thread Starter amyskea

    (@amyskea)

    It was front end.
No products would show up in a search if a category that they were in was hidden.
So pretty disasterous when customers were tryin to find things.
I have screen shots, but I have deleted this plug in now,
    Thank you

Absolutely, hiding products in an hidden category is exactly what it does!

    Thread Starter amyskea

    (@amyskea)

It didn’t do this before – it hid the category from the front end, not the products that were in that category.

I have admin categories which I hid, so every product is in one. These categories were hidden, but every product could be found – I used the facility every day as I gave links out to customers.

Suddenly no products could be found, as they were all in an admin category

The plug in has been deleted now.

There TWO bunches of checkbox in settings.

One for hiding categories, and one for hiding products in categories.

are-you sure you haven’t checked in the second one?

plug in is now deleted and the staging site is also deleted.

This plugin was working, then didn’t.

I had it correctly set for hiding categories not products, nothing was changed from our end.

If you can’t replicate it or it doesn’t happen to any other customer, then that’s fine. But I obviously could not have my search not working and so I deleted this plug in. Nothing further required.

Same issue here. I did not check anything on hiding product. I only need to hide categories, not products. Results : lot of products are not searchable anymore.

Desactivating plugin get back product in search.

    please provide some solution.

    Hello.

I can see that in version 1.2.4 there was an update to “Hide Categories in search results”.

However, what this actually does is hide any products from appearing the search results, if they are tagged as a hidden category. This is not the functionality that is wanted.

I can confirm that i have only hidden “Categories” from the shop, simply to hide internal management categories like “Core range” and “Limited Edition”. However, any products that are tagged with these categories (and even if they are also tagged with other categories not hidden), do not display in the WordPress default search.

I have had to revert to 1.2.3 to resolve this.

Hope that plugin author will fix this issue. this is not really good to keep an old version of plugin.

Hello everyone, thanks for your precious feedbacks, in our new version 1.2.8 already available this problem is fixed.

that’s right, seems to be ok now. thx !

1.2.8 did not fix the problem with search on my end. Shows no products found in search. I had to revert back to 1.2.3 again.
