• Hello!

It is nice to meet each of you! I am new, and I appreciate the existence of this forum.

I have been working on my first wordpress site for the last couple of days (yes, I am a newbie, but a cool one!), and something terrible just happened.

I installed a plugin to remove avatars. I think I may have installed something not compatible with the latest WP version. Now I cannot reach my admin page, even if I sign out and sign back in. I receive only this error page:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function is_site_admin() inD:\Hosting\7131098\html\wp-content\plugins\buddypress-remove-avatars\buddypress-remove-avatars.php

I have emailed the maker, but am not sure if he is still around.

I am not a coder, but not clueless either–I appreciate your easy to understand help!

    Thank you and happy holidays!

  • I’d try removing the plugin via cPanel if you can…

Aushh, thank you. I am not sure what the cPanel is or how to use it, but I am en route to Google to find out. Thanks again!

Well, the cpanel at my host does not look straight forward. Perhaps just reinstalling WP from scratch might be better? I only have a few days invested in the set-up so far, although I hate to lose any days in a lifetime as short as ours!

Usually not necessary. Use your ftp client, or the file manager in your hosts control panel, and just rename or delete the plugin that is causing the problems.

This is something that will be of immeasurable benefit to you in the future. Take some time to take advantage of any tutorials or faq’s you may find on your hosting service to learn how to use the applications you will find in Cpanel.

    Hi Clayton.

Thank you for your reply. I am sorry I am just seeing it now. I am new to all of this, and in the throes of the beginning struggles and learning curve, I had not quite organized everything (including forums) as tightly as I now have it.

Since this post, I have figured out nearly everything regarding my host, FTP, etc. I think I now know (mostly) what I am doing! ?? Man that hurt. Oh, and I found the codex–wish I had known about that weeks ago! My site is nearly complete. Yay!

    Thanks again and Cheers!

Why does stuff like this happen when we use plug-ins? It kind of makes them not so useful! And how do you know which one causes the problems?
