  • I hope you are talking about WordPress update? If so, thumbnails have stopped working even on my websites ever since I upgraded to WordPress 3.5. Hope the plugin authors update it for compatibility with WordPress 3.5 or let us know a patch.

What do you mean for not showing or stopped working? Are you getting an error or the default image placeholder? Can you provide a link please?

It has not stopped working, but the thumbnails are not showing. As far as I can get, links like WORDPRESS_WEBSITE_URL/wp-content/plugins/special-recent-posts/cache/MTAwMTAwbm9zcmluaQ==.jpg?fit=1024%2C1024 are not rendering or getting shown as images.

You can check it out on this page; the special recent posts widget is used in the sidebar (just below the social networking icons and above “recently popular reports” widget title) https://www.fakingnews.com/2012/12/gujarat-elections-tulika-trolled-by-modi/

I have another issue similar to this today.
Looking at your source code, all the images within your posts have this double domain as source attribute: https://i0.wp.com/www.fakingnews.com/wp-conte…. What is that?

I believe that is due to Jetpack plugin, especially this CDN feature https://jetpack.me/support/photon/

It has existed for weeks now, the thumbnails (of special recent posts plugin widget) of posts that were published after upgrade to WordPress 3.5, have not been showing.

I just looked for the sources, and it’s confirmed that the double domain is due to the Jetpack plugin.. please see this

@rahul, thanx 4 the information. At this point i guess i need to verify what the hell wordpress is doing.

My pleasure, do update the plugin or let us know the changes that we need to do so that the thumbnail reappears for WordPress 3.5
And thanks for this excellent plugin!

@rahul Maybe that CDN service is the problem. Consider that the SRP plugin cannot process images outside the same domain it is installed on. so please try to do a simple test: Remove the cdn domain from one of the post images that don’t show up anymore and see if the plugin can re-generate it again. Basically you have to set a source image to the same domain the website is on.

The CDN is a part of the Jetpack plugin and can’t be individually activated or deactivated for posts/pages.

Also, this CDN feature existed for weeks (maybe around two months now), while I can confirm that this thumbanil regeneration problem happened only last week after I upgraded to WordPress 3.5.

In the link that I had given you, you can see that thumbanils of some posts are appearing. They too have the double domain name for the image url (please check).

Some user has fixed this by deactivating the Photo feature.

    Sorry, photon.

Hmm.. yeah, deactivating the Photon feature of the Jetpack plugin did solve the problem. Though I still wonder why it happened only after upgrade to WordPress 3.5, because Photon feature was present before WordPress 3.5 too.

Anyway, it solves the problem as of now. However, hope the conflict between Photon and Special Recent Posts goes away with some upgrade.

@rahul The fact is that SRP can’t process images outside the same domain the website is hosted on. I’ll inspect this issue better anyway. Thanx 4 your support mate.

Had the same issue, Jetpack Photon module to blame. Thanks for the resolution!
