• I have wordfence installed on several including my own site. I get email message alerts from WorFence when any plug ind, themes, core etc updates are needed.

On the newest site created this January I do not get those alerts. I do get the weekly activity report and it shows if updates are needed. But, I do not the separate emails in advance of the weekly like I get from the other sites that I have WordFence installed on.

Has that separate email alert feature been disabled on new installs?

    Thank you

  • Hi @markf1,

The Updates Needed (Plugin, Theme, or Core) should be enabled on a new installation.

Can you look at that checkbox within Wordfence -> All Options to see that it is checked?

    Hi Dave,

Thanks for your reply. I find that checkbox under All Options > Dashboard Notifications. Yes it is checked.

Dashboard Notifications is not the same as email alerts?

I’m having the same problem. Not getting email alerts and have checked in All Options and it is checked.

    It’s now working.

The Dashboard Notifications are what are displayed on your Wordfence dashboard area under Notifications. The Email Alert Preferences will control what is sent out directly to your email.

If you go to the Email Alert Preferences section, do you have the Alert me with scan results for issues of this severity level: enabled for low, medium, high, or critical?

    Thanks what I thought.

It is set to severity level Low.

Can you disable that option and save it, and then when the page refreshes, try enabling the Alert me with scan results for issues of this severity level: Low again. See if it takes and you get any emails the next time a scan completes with a result.

I will do that and let post results here. Thanks!

I disabled, saved and then re-enabled as directed above.

Still not receiving email alerts for needed plug-in updates.

Can you please send diagnostics via Wordfence > Tools > Diagnostics > Send Report by Email to [email protected] and include your forum username in the second box there. Also, please respond here when they are sent.

I have sent the diagnostic report per instructions above. Thank you.

Thanks for sending those — nothing looks out of place to me in the diagnostics. How often do you find that you log in and see scan results without getting an email? I see you just have a few plugins currently.

I might suggest doing a deactivate, delete and then re-install to see if that clears anything up. I have seen this a couple times randomly come about and a re-install has helped.

I never get the email. I get the email alerting that other sites need plug-in updates, then I check the site in question and see it also needs the updates but never get the email alert for that one site.

I will try deactivate, delete and re-install and see if that fixes it.

    Thanks for your help.

I tried deactivate, delete and re-install. Same problem exists.

Other sites I have hosted at the same host service and using wordfence send me email alerts when plug in updates are needed. This site in question does not do that. It does send the weekly report, which shows updates needed, but does not send the individual emails notifying of plug in updates needed.

    Thanks for trying that Mark.

Could you please screenshot the current settings in the Wordfence > All Options > Email Alert Preferences for me please, just to double check.
