I have been trying to activate this plug in, a copy of which is sitting on my Desk Top. I am not a computer buff and have only been on WordPress a very short time so would really appreciate it if someone could tell me in simple terms what I have to do to make this Plug In work/

Thank you Tara. I am in the process of printing the instructions and if it’s OK with you, will let you know how I get on.

    Kind regards,

    Tara,

Disable Comments plug in is installed. The next question is, how do I apply this Plug In to the pages on my web site please? t the moment, on each page is a comment :- Posted September (Date) by Ron Binmore (me) This is what I am trying to get rid of and has caused me roughly 12 hours of struggle.

    Kind regards,

    Hi Tara,

I have the Plug In installed, but how do I make it eradicate the following from the home page “Posted by Ron Binmore 20 September 2015” please. Do I have to go to settings or something like that please?

    Regards,

    Ron

    Tara,
Tara, What ever page I select to work on the item I am trying to get rid off appears at the bottom of the page, complete with a word count. After updating the page then gong to the web site, it appears right below the picture of our church, a confounded nuisance, not the Church! but Posted (Date) by Rona Binmore! Can it be removed please? Having installed the Plug In, I thought it would have gone.

You will see what I mean if you go to https://parishofifield.apps-1and1.net/

    Kind Regards,

Try appending this rule to the end of your current theme’s style.css:

    .byline vcard {display:none;}

But be aware that your customizations will be over-written the next time you upgrade. Also, keep the default WordPress theme unedited, because having access to an unedited version of the theme is vital when dealing with a range of site issues. For this reason, consider creating a Child Theme for your customizations and/or use Custom CSS Manager plugin: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/custom-css-manager-plugin/ and add the code there.

    Hi Tara,

Sorry I have not responded before but have been out and about all day.

I have downloaded the CSS Manager Plugin. I have tried to find the themes style.css, it doesn’t appear on the drop down menu just Plug In’s and installed plug in’s. Perhaps I should download the theme again to see if it will re install it and attach itself to the site as is?

    I just wish I knew what I was doing…

with css manager plugin here you will put the code not in style.css.

style.css you will find it on dashboard->apparence->editor

Thank you. I have just looked at my dashboard and there is nothing there about Appearance Editor?? Where should I be looking please?

    Regards,

    RonB80

In your admin panel you don`t have this ?

I have a Dashboard but I cannot see anything about Appearance only notices about updates and plug in’s etc.

Where is it likely to be hiding please? I have been looking for the CSS Manager for four days and still can’t find him, perhaps he has gone for a glass of whisky?

    Cheers,

    RonB80

    Hi Tara,

I have Custom CSS Manager installed and when opened I get a box headed Cascading Style Sheet which underneath says CSS Code with 1 2 3 in the box. Added to these figures are /*.byline vcard[display:none;]

Simple Custom CSS is different. There just a box and one line on which is the same code as above.

I have updated both these all to no avail. “Posted September 22 2015 by Ron Binmore” is still there. Is there anything else I should do please??

    Regards,

    RonB80
