My security plugin (Wordfence) has started flagging this plugin as abandoned (as there haven’t been any updates in a few years and the compatibility with the new WordPress version is unknown). Is that true? Are there going to be any updates in the near future? If not, I will likely need to switch plugins to get the flagging of the abandoned plugin to stop.

    Thanks.

Does anyone know if the plugin has, indeed, been abandoned?

    Thanks in advance!

    Anyone?

    Thanks!

I suspect the reason you are not getting a response is that the people viewing this thread, like me, are not 100% sure. However, I believe that it is the case this plugin is no longer supported. It’s a shame.

I have tried finding a replacement because I am also nervous about relying on it. However, I have been unsuccessful so far in finding anything with the same sort of functionality. If you do find something, I would love to hear.

Thank you so much for your response.

It is really a shame! I had no idea there wasn’t something with the same sort of functionality. I will still give it a try in searching and will certainly come back here to let you know if I find something.

Appreciate it!! Have a great day!

Any luck finding a replacement. I’ve tried Memphis Documents Library but it’s not the same.

Unfortunately, no. I did not find a replacement.

Thanks. I emailed the author and got a quick response. He said things had been busy, but it hadn’t been abandoned. I’m going to continue to use it. It’s really a superior plugin.

Great! Thanks for letting me know. It is very superior, which was why I was bummed when I thought it was abandoned!

    Have a great day!

It is clearly abandoned. Prove me wrong.

I have too many sites using it, so I was afraid to wait for an update. I ended up using Pods and hooked into the existing Media content. I already had categories added to the media, so I’m able to use the Pod shortcode to pull out the categories and add links for PDFs, etc.

I really like Doc Gallery and it still works fine, but I’m concerned with having older code on a website. I’m going to slowly replace the other websites using Pods.

@delawaregrad Can you share some links for what you’ve chosen to do, so I … others … can possibly do the same as you’ve done?

The Pods plugin allows you to extend content types (media in this case). They also have shortcodes that can be added to the page, you can add the code to your template, or you can create a template in Pods. I have only previously used it to create CPTs and taxonomies. For my needs, it’s workable, but it might depend on how you were using Document Gallery. They have a lot of help documents on their website as well. I wasn’t using the document icons, but you could always add icons via css.
