I was successful in logging in with one of the Active Directory accounts but no one else can log in. We have tried logging into the main wordpress site and sub sites (multisite).

It seems as though Domain Admin accounts can log in although only 1 has arrived at the dashboard. The other gets ‘error creating user’. All non admin accounts just fail when trying to login.

Is there some debugging I can turn on to help figure out what’s going on?

It looks like you have two separate copies of the plugin installed on your server. FTP into your Web server and delete both the wp-content/plugins/active-directory-authentication-integration/ folder and the wp-content/plugins/active-directory-authentication-integration-0.1a/ folder, then re-install and re-activate the development version, please.

Now I’m looking at the settings for the plugin but the User section is empty. It has always been empty. I noticed that when I first installed. Just says

    User Information

Information about how to handle individual user accounts

There is a ton of debug information at the bottom of the page including the missing options that should be showing up.

If you click on “Information about how to handle individual user accounts” it doesn’t open the User settings?

I realize this isn’t the most intuitive user interface, but improving the user interface is on my list of things to work on once the major bugs are worked out of the plugin. ??

Oh. it did not look like a link and I had not tried clicking it.

OK. Changed Default email domain. the account that previously worked does not and neither do any others. test page shows no new output. Just Authentication failed.

have Automatic User update off for now.

No Account Suffix and Not set to Use it. … tried it just for fun but it does nothing different.

    Very strange.

Can you try glatze’s plugin (https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/active-directory-integration/) and see if you’re able to authenticate the users with that? If so, that means that it’s an issue with the parts I customized for my new plugin. If not, it means it’s an issue that’s present in the part of the plugin that existed before I customized it.

I have now tried glatze’s plugin. The same users work/don’t work.

I have decided to simplify things and go back to an install of wordpress without multisite.

I am trying all the plugins in turn. I’ll post results when I’m done. Then I’ll add multi site setup and repeat.

There is a bug in the currently available versions of my AD Authentication Integration plugin that makes it non-configurable in non-MultiSite installations. I plan to release a fix for it later today, but I don’t have access to update it from work, so I’ll have to wait until this evening.

You can read about it at https://plugins.ten-321.com/active-directory-authentication-integration/#comment-164

I also discovered another bug this afternoon that I’ll be fixing tonight. The second bug is related to authorization by group. The authorization by group feature is broken in the current version; so you won’t be able to use it (basically, it ignores your authorization by group settings, and just authorizes everyone).
