• I am a newbie to WordPress so please don’t laugh too much at my question. I’d like to know how the active directory plugin works. If I were to install it does my active directory credentials get passed through to WordPress? Do the users still need to login to WordPress with their AD credentials? Would every post be automatically stamped with the person’s login name or would WordPress still allow anonymous posts?

    Hi darinz,
after installation, activation and configuration of the plugin, you and the users of your WordPress blog are authenticated and authorized against your AD. The username and password is send to AD and this tells WordPress if the credentials are ok or not. If your username and password are correct you are authenticated. Afterwards the authorization process starts (if configured). If your are a member of the correct AD security group(s) you get access and your role (admin, editor, subscriber, …).

After all this is done (automatically) WordPress handles your account, as if it was a local, normal WordPress user account.

    Hi glatze,
I know it’s been a while, but do you know how to set up the group integration?

    Thanks,

    Aaron

    Hi All,

I know its been a while sine this post was visited but would someone happen to know how to configure the authorization section? The authentication is successful but authorization fails.

[Warn]Authorization by group failed. User is not authorized.

    Would appreciate any assistance,

    Thanks,
    Sejal

What do you use as Base DN? The used security group has to be “under” the Base DN. See FAQ: https://www.ads-software.com/extend/plugins/active-directory-integration/faq/
