I am wondering if plugin stats are displaying correct data and how often are stats updated. Recently I updated my plugin from version 1.0.0 to version 2.1.0 and after that to 2.1.1. Plugin stats are still showing that 100% users are on version 1.0.0, even though plugin was downloaded over 100 times after it was updated to 2.1.0. I also installed version 2.1.0 on 4 different live websites, 2 days ago, so data about plugin active versions seems to be wrong.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

There’s lots of issues right now with caching on wp.org that one hopes are soon resolved.

It is not a caching issue. Your plugin has less than 30 installs and you updated it only 5 days ago.

Recognize that the stats system relies on, essentially, self-reporting. Update checks. When the WordPress installation checks for updates, we record that, and produce stats based on that information. WordPress only actually runs when the site is viewed, so some sites don’t check for updates for potentially weeks at a time. If nobody is viewing a WordPress site, then it’s not running, and essentially doesn’t do anything at all.

The stats update when those sites are active, and they don’t when those sites are inactive. The data is one that works based on the law of averages. We’re not actively going out and gathering data, we’re passively waiting for it to show up. So.. yeah, your data hasn’t shown up yet, because you’re waiting on less than 30 sites to report in and check for plugin updates, which relies on somebody actively looking at them first.

Thanks. I understand how active installs number is calculated. But active versions stats are strange, it shows that all active installs are version 1.0.0 even though more than 100 downloads were after updating to 2.1.0. Also I have 2.1.0 installed and activated on 4 different websites that have visitors for sure.
I just wonder if I did something wrong when updating the plugin, so new version is not counted as active install.

It’s probably because it’s less than 10 installs. I don’t think we even count that until it has more than 10 installs.
