• After upgrading to Advertising manager all ads in the post editor was just displayed with a number which made it difficult to see which ad it was. So I then reverted to Adsense manager – but all ads arae gone? Then back to Advertising Manager – still no ads? Where are they stored?

  • CalleJ:

    1. Make sure you disable Adsense Manager when using Advertising Manager.
    2. Click on ‘Ads’ which is on the left hand menu (under ‘Comments’).

    You should see a list of all ads on your system.

    I am not sure what the exact issue you are describing above – did you previously put ads in your posts (e.g. ‘This is my post [ad#name] and this is text after the ad’), and they changed to a number? Where do you only see ad numbers and not names?

    Hi,
    I did disable Adsense Manager before using Adv Man.

    I only got numbers (ad#1) when using the editor, writing a post. I usually put an ad at the end of the post.

    I think I found the ads in the “plugin_adsensem_backup” in the options table – should I just copy the content to the “plugin_adsensem” record?

    CalleJ:

    The key plugin_adsensem_backup contains the backup information. It is a little more difficult to use than just copying the contents from this key to the plugin_adsensem key.

    1. Click on the dashboard icon, logged in as an admin user. You should be at a page like:
    https://www.blog.com/wp-admin/index.php

    2. Add the following text at the end of the URL:

    ?advman-revert-db=3.2

    So the full URL is:

    https://www.blog.com/wp-admin/index.php?advman-revert-db=3.2

    Note: I am not sure what the previous version is that you stored. You can look it up in the database (it is difficult to find – the data is stored as a serialised array).

    Alternatively, I made a version which displays the versions for you if you leave the version number blank (e.g.

    https://www.blog.com/wp-admin/index.php?advman-revert-db=

    You can get this development version here:

    https://downloads.www.ads-software.com/plugin/advertising-manager.zip

    Let me know how it goes!

    This is the answer I got:
    It looks like you are trying to load a backup of Advertising Manager. The available versions are:
    3
    Here is a printout of each version:
    ADVMAN VERSION 3:

    Array
    (
    [ads] => Array
    (
    )

    [next_ad_id] => 1
    [default-ad] =>
    [version] => 3.3.15
    [uuid] => 5238f6c824bf7ab0fffbd1093c95b38d
    )

    Should I write 3, 3.3 or 3.3.15 in the command?

    /Calle

    Calle,

    There are no ads in this array. When you reverted to Adsense Manager, it must have not recognised the newer version of data, and started afresh.

    Note that I just put up a new version 3.3.16 which fixes the original issue you described (e.g. [ad#name] rather than [ad#id]).

    I have a copy from yesterdays version which contains my ads (I recognize the content) – but only the option_value field. Would it work if i replaced the content of that field for he record with option_name: plugin_adsensem?

    CalleJ:

    If you have a copy of plugin_adsensem from yesterday, you can load that back into the plugin_adsensem field. If your copy is of plugin_adsensem_backup, load that back into plugin_adsensem_backup, and then run the steps I outlined above.

    Good luck, and I am glad to hear you have a backup copy!

    I managed to get all the ads back. And after downloading a new version of 3.3.16 everything’s fine – thanks

    A follow-up question – when I used the ads in Adsens as widgets I could set the heading – but now thats not possible. Still – I do get the old heading (which is ok) but where does it get it from? How do I set it for new ads?
    I don’t think that the html-before field would work since the header function for the widget creates the following:

    <div class=”sidebar-box”><h2>Annons</h2><div class=”sidebar-box2″>

    and then comes the ad…

    CalleJ:

    I will follow up on this one with Martin. Where did you set the heading?

    Cheers,
    Scott

    Scott –

    I hate to say it, but I’ve lost most of my ads again – and I can’t see why this should be. The key account number is in place!

    I’m not certain whether the ads stopped working when I installed the new plugin update, or whether it was when I created a new sidebar ad.

    Whatever it was, the ads in the posts have vanished. Do you have any advice please?

    Scott:
    I used to set the heading in the appearance/widgets section, the same way as for other widgets – but now the message is “There are no options for this widget.”

    Also – I updated one ad – didnt really change anything – but that ad won′t display (as a widget) now. When I check the source it is as if i haven’t used it at all.

    By the way, gmatkin’s issues are sorted out. A bug was fixed in 3.3.15 where the dropdown in the post editor had ID numbers rather than the ad name.

    For those running this version, please upgrade, or remember to use the ad name rather than ID.

    Cheers,
    Scott

    CalleJ:

    I will check out how Adsense Manager worked, and make sure we can do the same thing in Advertising Manager. I will post a new thread on this issue once I get some results.

    Cheers,
    Scott
