Plugin affects layout of the regular Columns block

I’ve tried this plugin, and aside from not being able to add other block types to the columns, it seems to break the regular Columns block and turn my two column layout into a one column layout.

Here’s my 2 column layout without the plugin active: Without Gutenberg Variable Columns active

And with it active: With Gutenberg Variable Columns active

Is this something you can replicate?
