[Plugin: Ajax Event Calendar] Upgrade from 0.9.9.2

I just upgraded to WP 3.3.1 and I’d like to also update my Ajax Calendar – mostly to get recurring events.
What is the best way to upgrade safely? I don’t want to lose my custom categories (types).
Any help would be appreciated.
