• Hello . . . I hope you can help because I love the plugin, but I have a new (pretty serious) problem. I have been using the Ajax Event Calendar plugin with no real problems (besides troubles early on with saving category colors and the “page not found” error after updating the plugin).

Now, I can’t access my wp-admin area (entire backend just gives 500 error with white screen) . . . I troubleshot this today down to this plugin and just renamed the plugin folder to gain access to my wp-admin area. Now of course I have been trying to figure out what has gone wrong. I’ve tried reactivating, deleting and reinstalling (which I really hated to do because I lost my historical event data) — no go. Whenever I activate the plugin it kills the backend.

    What happened today:
    1. One of the users on the site reported not being able to add to or edit events and was getting “not enough permissions” message.
    2. I went into the wp-admin and checked on the permissions for the user (looked okay). I added the Role Scoper plugin a few weeks ago and wondered if that was an issue (I could see anything)
    3. I noticed I had another calendar plugin that I was testing (All-In-One Event Calendar) and had left as “deactivated” so I decided to just “delete” this plugin just in case there was some kind of a conflict with permissions
    4. Next I noticed the backend pages were all blank with the 500 errors. This led to painstaking troubleshooting and renaming of plugin folders via FTP one by one find the culprit.
    5. This led me to Ajex Event Calendar and I spent more time than I’d like to admit trying to get it to work, but with no success.

Any idea what’s happening here? I hope you can help.

    Thank you,
    LC

Did you change any of the blog settings, such as the url?
Did you activate any new plugins?
Since it is a 500 error, you should see errors in your PHP log (ask your host if you don’t know where it’s located). It’s also possible that if present, you’d have errors in the wp-content/debug.log file.

If you can provide more information, I’ll try to help, but to be honest, if it was working fine and suddenly stopped as you describe, then it’s not likely the calendar causing this issue, it’s more likely a conflict with a newly introduced element or system modification.

Not finding my php log file . . . I’ll have to check with the web host. wp-content/debug.log file not present. I’ll have to do some digging. sigh!
