[Plugin: Akismet] No False positives

  • I just got done approving a legitimate comment that was marked as spam (I clicked the “Approve” button). I then got interested in knowing how many false positives I received this month. I was surprised to see that Akismet said I had 0 (especially since I just approved one, and I know I have approved others).

    So I looked a little further and noticed that for the last couple months (January 2009 is the last false positive) I have had 0 false positives. Was there a change that broke the false positives functionality?

    Would anyone else be willing to check there stats and see if you are having the same problem?

  • i think there’s a problem with the new update.
    there are a few posts on this board reporting the same thing.

    maybe it doesn’t affect everyone, but i am seeing spam comments apparently getting caught by akismet (because the number on the dashboard is rising every day), but you are given no opportunity to check them. the spam queue is always empty. previously spam comments would appear in the queue so you could check them out.

    they don’t appear in my database either, so i can’t even check them there.
    makes me think that a load of decent comments are being unnecessarily binned.

    I can definitely see all the spam. Could it be that your browser has cached the spam queue page and always shows empty? Have you tried a different browser or a different computer?

    i’ve fixed my problem a little bit. If you untick the “Automatically discard spam comments on posts older than a month” box, then the spam comments show up.
    but if you put a tick in it then they don’t… even if the spam comments are less than a month old. the whole queue remains empty forever.

    i’m not sure that’s how it’s supposed to work. surely today’s spam should still show up in the queue if you tick the box?
