    I’m using WordPress 3.2.1 and 1.0.4.

There are several things broken right now:

    1. I cannot change the publish date or time of an event.
    — Clicking on “Edit” next to “Published on…” does nothing

    2. I cannot add a category while in Event > Add New (writing or editing an event).
    — clicking on “Add Category” does nothing

    3. The “Update” button at the bottom of the Add/Edit Event page does nothing.
    — Why is there another “Update” down there that does nothing when there’s one off to the right?

    4. Limit calendar display by category?
    — I still haven’t figured out how I can get the calendar to only display one or a few categories and not display certain categories. Normally other calendar plugins handle this via [shortcodes]. Unfortunately, there’s limited documentation so I have no clue what the shortcode is and is this is even possible.

    5. Breaks Fluency Admin Pop-Out Submenus
    — Fluency Admin plugin has a pop-out menu for the submenu items. While editing a Event Post or adding an Event Post, the pop-out menu no longer works in Fluency Admin.

    6. Category Filter doesn’t quite work right in Agenda view.
    — The category filter partly works in Agenda view. In that, if I select a category (or categories), that category of events will be display. Other categories that aren’t selected, those events aren’t displayed BUT the date (div?) block is still shown. This makes it look like there is an event on that date. I rather have that entire date block hidden if that category/categories of events are filtered out.

I disabled every other plugin and none of them are interfering with this plugin.

    David,

I agree, possibly the fastest and most detailed response of any of the plugin developers so far. You guys are great! ??

    Hi David,
    Thanks for the great feedback.
The plugin doesn’t support shortcode at the moment but we will add some shortcodes in next releases.
We have a dev release of the plugin which includes non-minified js and css files loaded with descriptive comments. If you want to work on your own to implement the feature your client wants then drop me a line and I will provide you with a link to our dev release. Of course, if you are not able to continue on your own then you can use our customer support page to get our professional help.

Hi! At first, thanks for the great plugin, one of the best!
But, using v1.0.4 with WP 3.2.1 i’ve found some problems:
    1) Localization. I’ve added initialization of I18n engine and made .po and .mo files, it working, but not all strings are replaced by translated and i don’t know why.
I can help you with Russian locale and send to you all my additions to your plugin ??
    2) I can’t use CKEditor for edit events (it’s not loading)
    3) Highly need a option to customize date\time formats

    Hi Andrsp,

    • Could you sent your additions to our support page. You can attach files, when posting a ticket. You can also send your translations and we will look into the problem. Thank you so much for contributing!
    • Just tried CKEditor on WP 3.2.1 and it works for me. Perhaps my CKEditor settings differs from yours but it could also be a browser issue. What browser are you using?
    • This will be added in the next release. Thanks!

yani.iliev, thanks for reply, i’ll send files soon.
i’m using Firefox 6 and CKEditor for WordPress 3.6.1. just checked again with CKEditor deactivated and found that once switched to HTML edit mode from WYSIWYG I cant switch back (click on tab makes no effect). I will try this on fresh wordpress install.

@Acreo – thanks for the debugging info, I found the source of the JS problem. We’ll have a new version out for you shortly!

    @paul,

Awesome! Thanks so much! I’m eagerly awaiting that update today. ??

@Acreo – 1.0.5 is up, and I hope it fixes many of the problems you were having.

Hmm, it’s fixed most of the issues above (one or two were for future releases as “features”), but introduced some new ones:

When adding or editing an event:

Click on the start/end dates brings up a pop-up (JS?) calendar. When I select a new date (in the future or past), then click out of the calendar (to close the pop-up), and then click back on the date, it exhibits some funkiness:

    1. The “highlighted” date is today rather than the selected start or end date already in the field.

    — Can we have the selected start or end date highlighted as well in a different color? This way we can satisfy the need to know the “current” date as well as highlight the start or end date of the event on the pop-up calendar.

    2. Once I’ve selected a start date and time, the end date and time in 1.0.4 would auto change to the same start date but just 15 mins later. In 1.0.5, it sometimes changes to the day before on a completely different time.

    3. In trying to set the end date and time, I sometimes have to do it twice at least before the date/time keeps.

    4. (This is more of a behavior change I feel makes more sense.) When I select a future or past date (for start date/time), the time auto sets to my approximately 11:45 pm. For the end date/time, it sets it to the following day at 12:45 am. Rather than having it set to those two dates and times, I feel it would be better to set the start time to 12:00 pm and have the end date be the same as the start date and the time set to 12:15 pm. The reasoning here: it’s easier than having to scroll all the way back up or all the way back down the times list to find the time I want.

    5. (David’s US date formatting) Still formatted in DD/MM/YYYY instead of giving us a choice between that and MM/DD/YYYY. Not sure if this was for a future release or supposed to be in 1.0.5.

    When viewing the calendar:

    6. The day of the week should be spelled out all the way (looks more professional). Instead right now I see a three letter abbreviation rather than the full day word. For example, I see: “Sat, October 1 @ 10:00am – 4:00pm” instead of “Saturday, October 1 @ 10:00am – 4:00pm”.

I know we click on the event from a visible calendar, but on the event post itself, there should be a year. So it should read: “Saturday, Month Day, Year @ Start Time – End Time”. This, I feel, is mandatory for repeating events and general non-repeating events. Often times, my members will share the event post link (rather than the calendar page) with other members. They could easily be lost and confused wondering what YEAR the event is supposed to take place on.

Additionally, to make it easier to read, could we have a space between the time and the “am” and “pm”? Also could we have a choice between lowercase “am” and “pm” and uppercase “AM” and “PM”?

That’s what I’ve found so far. Will post more if I find anything else.

Hi – this is a great plugin, I love it! It’s so much better than the other plugins I’ve tried, and I’m happy to be in on its first steps.

I had a few suggestions for (hopefully near) future updates…

    – I second the request for a website URI field. I won’t be using the post description area for all of the events, and it would be great to have a dedicated field for websites.

    – Is there shortcode yet that would allow us to post, for example, “featured events” (from the “featured” category) on a separate page or in a slider on the homepage?

    – The Google maps really slow down page loading… Would there be a way to add a “see the map” button so that the map would only load when a user wants to see it?

    – Choice between a 24 hour and 12 hour clock (for international users)

I’m playing with it, and am anxiously awaiting new developments!

    @Acreo,

    1. That’s a good idea. We didn’t code the date pop-up plugin (it was an open-source one we found and liked), but we can certainly modify it so that it’s a little more intuitive. I’ve added it to our task list.

    2. I’ll need a more specific example of this to reproduce it, since this is not the behaviour that I see. The following is the intended behaviour, and is what happens when I play around with it: When setting the start date/start time, and the start date/time fields lose focus, the end date and end time are automatically adjusted so that the event’s previous duration remains the same. The default duration for an event is 1 hour.

    3. I haven’t been able to reproduce this behaviour yet. Perhaps it’s a Windows-specific thing. When I have a chance I’ll get my Windows laptop up and running to see if that’s the case.

    4. We based the default start time on that used by other popular calendar systems. The current behaviour is the same as in Google Calendar, MS Outlook, and others, and I think we’d prefer not to deviate, if possible, lest we risk confusing those used to this behaviour. I understand your reasoning, however, from an efficiency point of view. I suppose we could make “default start time of noon” a setting, at the risk of cluttering the settings page… I any case I’m afraid we’ll have to put this one a little lower in our priority list.

    5. It’s currently scheduled for 1.1. We’ll try to move it up to 1.0.6. More requests are coming every day and we’re trying as best we can to satisfy the most urgent requests first. It sounds like this is a pretty urgent one though. Our development team consists of only Canadians and Europeans, so we didn’t even think of this – sorry!

    6. The formatting was based on Google Calendar (which uses the short form of weekdays as well as omits the year) and trying to squeeze a lot of information into a small space (say, when an event starts at, say, 6pm on one day and ends at 2am on the next). However, you make a good point, so we should figure out other ways to fit everything in there. The best solution is probably to provide a few date format options in Settings – I’m adding it to the list!

    @bowoolley,

    Website URI field request noted.

There are no shortcodes available yet. We are planning to add shortcodes for embedding custom filtered views of the calendar in pages. It wouldn’t make sense for us to implement our own slider into the plugin since so many good ones already exist for WordPress. I guess the question is, how can we let other WordPress plugins “see” the event posts as if they were normal posts? We already have a task in place for 1.1 to give the admin the option to list event posts among other posts and within RSS feeds if they wish. I will update this task to make sure we do it in such a way that other WordPress plugins that only know how to handle regular posts can also see the event posts.

Google Maps: Valid point, however there will be those who wish to have the map displayed by default, without requiring a second click. So we can add this as an option – though we might put it off until 1.0.7.

24-hour clock: We’ll integrate this into Acreo’s request for #6, basically giving the blog admin the option to format dates and times however they wish.

    Thanks for the feedback,
    Paul

The most important feature on my list right now since some events I don’t want the public to see (registered or not).

I’ll go through these again. Maybe a issue on my end or something I missed. Unfortunately, I don’t have a Mac system to test these on. Only Windows machines and a Linux VM.

Really looking forward to 1.1.0 considering the new features and changes.

    Hello!

The calendar doesn’t seem to be displaying properly. Here is a link to the page: https://www.julienmurray.com/events/.

    Please advise. Thanks!

    @hce
    Thank you for reporting this,
We are aware of the problem and a fix will be released in 1.0.6 version.
