[Plugin: All-in-One Event Calendar] Event Contributor Role

  • The plug-in created a new Event Contributor role. Is it safe to delete this without causing any bad effect?

    Also, the users of the website (staff at my kid’s school) are asking when they will be able to use calendars which is totally dependent on shortcodes. I have looked at other calendars but nothing comes close to AI1EC so I really want to stick with it.

    Is it possible to give a very approximate answer (weeks … six months?)

    It is safe to delete the plugin, however deleting the plugin will also delete all of the events and leave your database in a clean state so do it only if you don’t want to save any of the events data. Users with Event Contributor role = WP Contributor role except that they can add events.

    Unfortunately, I cannot give you approximate date for releasing shortcodes. While it may seem like an easy task to others, we plan to have it in a nice an easy to use way so that even users who don’t have much WP knowledge will be able to use shortcodes.

    We are working with a couple schools at the moment. Why don’t you get in contact with us and we might be able to provide you some custom solution that will match what you are looking for.

    Hi Yani,

    I don’t want to delete the plug-in, I want to delete the Event_Contributor role ??

    I have created roles such as Headmaster, Teacher, Governor and it is causing a slight confusion.

    I didn’t want to simply delete the role (which I didn’t create) in case I lost the capabilities.

    What’s the idea behind deleting the user role? Does it cause any troubles?

    It doesn’t cause a problem as such but the headmaster sets up things for specific roles (eg. teacher) and Event_contributer always appears in the list which causes confusion.
