[Plugin: All-in-one Events Calendar] Roles and filter

I hope someone can give me some input into this.

If manage_options is enabled for (the default role)Subscribers then all-in-one events calendar is able to filter the calendar to different tags, categories, etc. The problem with this is it also will allow subscribers to change settings and information on other plugins. Including security related plugins and many others in the Dashboard.

Is there a way to change the current_user() to make the filter work without it being tied to manage_options? If so where would I look?
