my manually written description of my posts (placed on each individual post page at the bottom) does not show up on google. Rather the content found within the post shows up in the description on google.

What’s the point of the description if it does not show up on google?

How can I get my manually written description to be indexed on google?

My first guess would be that if you just put the descriptions in, you’ll just need to wait longer.

Second guess would be that your theme is also making descriptions as well as All-In-One. I don’t know if Google will actually dock you for Duplicate meta descriptions, but at the very least it would mess things up. I noticed that in a guy’s site last week. If that’s the case, you’ll most likely need to do some editing in header.php of your theme.

If that isn’t it, I’m stumped.

    good luck.

Your descriptions are suggestions for Google. Depending on the particular search, Google may either use your meta descriptions or else if there’s something in the body of your post it finds more relevant it can use that.
