    Hi,

Should I disable plugin auto updates for an old WP or keep them always on? Theoretically, will the plugin continue to work the same way on old WP that is not updated in the future?

    Hi @dhampius,

Generally, I do not see a reason to update the plugins but not the application itself.

Still, if you for some reason cannot update the WordPress version, the plugins should be kept up-to-date. They should work properly until a new major WordPress version arrives. Then the developers will most probably adjust their plugin to comply with the new WordPress version and the plugin may not be fully compatible with the old WordPress version anymore.

So you mean that if I keep the plugin on auto-update, it will work until WP version 7 is released?

    Hello @dhampius,

First and foremost I strongly recommend keeping the core version updated at all times. Even minor updates include security patches that are vital for the protection and well-being of your website. Nevertheless, you could keep updating the plugin and leave the auto-u-date enabled, however, keep in mind that our developers will always use the latest version of WordPress for the development of our plugins. If WordPress includes major core changes this may lead to changes to our plugin, thus websites using older WordPress versions may not be able to run our security plugin.

    Best Regards,

    Simeon Boev
