  • Love G+ but some users wants P+ too. ??

    + 1 for adding pinterest. Would also like to activate on pages, not just posts.

    This plugin is brilliant for it’s simplicity and functionality. I agree that Pinterest would be the perfect addition to the core list of social platforms.

    The problem with the Pinterest button is that it requires the url of the specific image you would like to “pin”.

    Currently I don’t have any plans of immediately adding this feature.

    I thought there’s a fallback if you don’t provide the image URL the pinterest page will show all images for you to select.. maybe that was part of the ShareThis plugin itself?

    Yes, KWentin, I’ve seen that function, but it was in the “Pin It” bookmark I have in my bookmark toolbar. I see the code for that is:
    javascript:void((function(){var%20e=document.createElement(‘script’);e.setAttribute(‘type’,’text/javascript’);e.setAttribute(‘charset’,’UTF-8′);e.setAttribute(‘src’,’https://assets.pinterest.com/js/pinmarklet.js?r=’+Math.random()*99999999);document.body.appendChild(e)})());

    Just in case Rachel wants to try to add it. ??

    Lane,

    I appreciate your help. When trying to implement Pinterst sharing for a client I had the same line of thinking.

    Sadly, the Pinterest bookmarklet code will not work from within websites. The images never save to a user’s Pinterest account. The options for implementing Pinterest sharing in WordPress are too “hacky” (finding all images via RegEx or sharing the featured image falling back to the first image on the page) for me to support.

    Thanks for taking a look at it, Rachel. I’ve noticed that almost none of the social plugins include Pinterest, and now I know why.

    Hi Lane,

    This plugin https://codecanyon.net/item/wordpress-social-share-buttons/2927356 includes Pinterest, Digg, Stumbleupon and Delicious in addition to other button styles and display options. It also loads all buttons asynchronously. Currently it is only $8 which is a small price IMO for the extra options and services. Hope that helps!

    If it can be figured out, I vote for Pinterest as well. There are other social plugins out there (I currently use Socialize and Shareaholic), but I’d like one that doesn’t slow my site down so much. I like the sound of this one, but I need a Pinterest button.
