I think this is because a potential query issue. Can you please enable jquery in the settings of attention bar. You have on enabled on your theme (js/jquery-1.4.2.min.js) however this is pretty outdated. Normally it should take newer version preceding over older ones, so i think you have disabled jquery on the settings page of attention bar.

If you have enabled, please check if everything else still works ok on your site!

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the response Pascal.

I have already enabled jquery in attention bar but it still doesn’t work. Enabled or disabled, everything still works fine on my site. Attention bar just doesn’t want to show up! Like you said, it must be a jquery issue. I’m not sure why my site is still loading the old version of jquery. I’m using WordPress 3.2. I’ve read that WordPress automatically installs a new version of jquery. Could it be my blog theme that’s causing some issues? I’ll try to research this more on my own. I would appreciate any extra help you can offer!

Yep it is for sure your theme which is entering the jquery. My first guess would be looking in the header.php of your theme, or else in the functions.php of your theme.

Let me know if i can be of any help!

    Thanks!

Any more remark. Your theme is loading the jquery with a wrong version number. That’s why wordpress or even my plugin is not overruling it.

    https://www.anotherwindowsblog.com/wp-content/themes/brainstorm/js/jquery-1.4.2.min.js?ver=3.2

ver=3.2 is the key problem, it tells wordpress that your jquery has version 3.2 which is greater than 1.6.1 (which is loaded by wordpress by default)

    Good info!

While you were probably typing the response, I took the liberty to just deactivate most of my plugins to see which one would cause attention bar to not load. It turns out that my Header Image Rotator plugin, which randomly rotates a new header picture for every refresh, is the main culprit. I really do not want to deactivate this plugin so I’ll look into it along with the new information you have just given me about the wrong version number.

I’m going to dig into this. I really want attention bar to work! Thanks again!

    Well,

If a plugin forces you to use a outdated library, and was not updated anymore since a while (based on the version of jquery) you may ask yourself if you want to keep it at all, and don’t want to use another similar plugin!

    Regards!

    I finally did it!

After slaving all day in front of my computer trying to figure this out, I’ve finally managed to deactivate the offending plugin (had cost me $2) and yet I managed to keep the rotating header image by applying another fix here:

    https://jakeldaily.com/wordpress-rotating-header-images-no-plugins/

I can now delete the bad plugin but yet still keep the rotating header image feature and most importantly, your attention bar plugin is finally showing!!!!!!! It’s deactivated at the moment as I’m too tired to create the notifications but believe me, the bar shows up just fine now!! Thanks Pascal for all the help! I finally get to use your awesome plugin!
