• Hi Peter, hope you are well.

I spotted the following problem with this plugin…

Sometimes one needs to disable plugins for troubleshooting.
I noted that when this plugin is deactivated and reactivated it generates a new encrypted slug for users.

In creating the new slug, the old slug is deleted, so references to it in the db are now invalid.

Now all previously published posts link to a non-existing user, so they cause 404 errors.

This makes the use of the plugin very risky for client user experience.
Any ideas to address this matter?

    Thanks for your time!

  • @jpjpvr Have you considered using the Heath-Check plugin for troubleshooting? You can disable all plugins and revert to the default theme only for your logged in user. Other admins and users, even site visitors, will see nothing changed. That way none of your plugins would actually be deactivated and the Smart User Slug Hider might not regenerate the slugs (I have not tested this personally). It’s a really awesome troubleshooting tool and is completely free.

    Tim
