Please remove the plugin and reinstall it again.

I do not remember about the previous wordpress version (am checking it, will let you know).

I’ve tried to remove the plugin and reinstalled it, but the problem is still there.

So what exactly isn’t working?

Do you see the menu in admin in WordPress?

I was using the widget before but now its just returning an empty result, but I’ve a lot of categories.

Yes I see the menu in admin

Not sure why the widget is empty. Could be conflict with another plugin, theme conflict.

It’s your theme that’s causing the problem.
In your style.css you have the following line:
.widget_extended-categories{display:none !important;}

It’s line #857
That line hides the entire widget.
