• Hi all,

after the newest update I get the following error messages:

zip: sh: /usr/bin/zip: No such file or directory
zip: The backup file was not created
pclzip: PCLZIP_ERR_READ_OPEN_FAIL (-2) : Unable to open temporary file '/var/www/vhosts/domain/blog/wp-content/backupspclzip-4f04cdb462937.tmp' in binary write mode

Before I used this wonderful Plugin for “years”. Any idea?
    Thanks

  • V 1.6.4 resulted in a backup that is 3x smaller than the first backup completed under 1.5.1.(14Mb vs 41Mb). The site is new and I am adding posts not taking anything out so I don’t understand why the archive might be so much smaller with 1.6.4. Again, there is no ‘wp-includes’ folder in the archive. I find that concerning. Has everyone else checked the contents of the archive and can someone verify that the ‘wp-includes’ folder is indeed part of a regular backup and needed for a normal restore ? Additional info: if I set 1.6.4 to “Auto Backup” it immediately launches into a backup routine although the normal set time is nowhere near. If I set to “Manual Backup this doesn’t happen. Instead 1.6.4 sizes the database and reports back. It is currently reporting a size of 97Mb. I’m no expert in compression but it seems to me that the last archive size of 14Mb is a little light for a dB of 97Mb. Can anyone tell me if this is normal (keeping in mind that the ‘wp-includes’ folder does not get backed up for the moment. Thank you all for the help.

I have checked the archive and everything is there. I backed up with 1.5.1, updated, backed up with 1.6.4, and both archives are the same size.

I am missing the backup of the database, the sql file. No error messages, no warning. I am a little bit concerned by this.

I checked my backup as well. All is there. They are the same size as with the old version. My database size: 12 MB uncompressed, 4,5 MB compressed.

my sql dump is in the “root” of the archive. Have you checked older backup archives, to see if the sql file is/was there?

I installed this plugin recently (1.6.2? two weeks ago?) and I never saw any sql file in the root of my zip archive since then. First I had error messages saying the zip file was not created. Now (with 1.6.4) the zip file is created but without the sql dump.

    The log files say:

[Sat Jan 14 21:18:59 2012] [crit] [client 83.101.x.y] (13)Permission denied: /var/sites/www.my-site.org/wordpress/wp-content/backups/.htaccess pcfg_openfile: unable to check htaccess file, ensure it is readable, referer: https://www.my-site.org/wordpress/wp-admin/tools.php?page=backupwordpress

Changing the permissions of .htaccess is not an option since backupwordpress always modifies this file and its rights.

@pfrancois have you checked the plugin settings:
What to Backup: Backup my - database & files

Do you allow write access to the folder: /wp-content/backups?

Ran 1.6.4 manually this am. Although “Manage Backups” says backup complete. Page still shows “creating zip archive”. Filezilla confirms that backup is still being created. Now I can press “Cancel” button and process stops as evidenced by Filezilla. Checking download archive, I notice that there is still no ‘wp-includes’ folder. If I do FTP download of ‘wp-includes’ it is 6.3Mb. According to 1.6.4 my site size is 97Mb. The archive manually created today is 8.6Mb (without the ‘wp-includes’ which does not get backed up).
I also notice I have two sql files. I will check with Hosting Control to see why this is. In case there is good reason to have two sql’s, is Backup WordPress limited to one only ? Could this be causing the partial backup and the hanging of the plugin ? Thanks for all your input.

@myblog@0112: this is what I see on the page /wp-admin/tools.php?page=backupwordpress:

Your database & files will be automatically backed up every week. The next backup will occur at 23:00 on 21/01/2012 and be saved to …

but… I can no longer access the settings of backupwordpress. Strange.

Anyway, the folder backups has rw permissions for the owner and the zip file is created without any permission problem.

@pfrancois, when I press settings on the plugin page, I see the following page.

What’s the WP version you are using? If not the newest version, try to update.

@myblog@0112: I am already at the newest version: 3.3.1.

On my plugin page, I don’t see anything below the table with the list of the backups and the last line with the total of space used beginning with the words “The 10 most recent backups will be saved”. I see only:

If you need help getting things working you are more than welcome to email us at [email protected] and we’ll do what we can to help.

    which I obviously appreciate…

@myblog that email address is the backupwordpress support email address not pfrancis email address (I think the email you sent us was meant for pfrancis)

@tom: I sent an email asking for help. I know some PHP and am ready to help debugging, but I don’t know where to start.

Hello, did another 1.6.4. manual backup this morning. All OK except still no copy of ‘wp-includes’ in the archive. And still have to press cancel at the end of process (no big deal – but I can see how this could lead to corruption if one was to quick on the cancel button). Does anyone have any suggestion??? Thanks!
