    I’d recommend trying a database only backup as it might be that the site is too large for the server to be able to handle backing it up.

    Thanks for the reply. I did try just a database backup and it wouldn’t push through on a 300mb sql dump. Is there a PHP setting I should look at tweaking, such as memory limit?

    Could you check your php error log and see if you are getting any out of memory or max_execution errors.

    You could try upping both of those and see if that fixes the issue.
