I have BackWPup set up to run daily. However, it’s been getting stuck on the “Create Backup Zip File…” step of the backup and running interminably; I’ve terminated scripts more than 14 hours after the jobs started. I have script execution limited to 300 seconds in the plugin settings.

I am using WordPress 2.9.1 on a DreamHost shared Linux server with PHP5 running as fCGI. The pre-ZIP backup size is between 50 and 60 MB at this point.

Any idea why it keeps running away? I can’t stop the script without logging into SSH and guessing at which PHP process to kill.

I’ll add the relevant (very long) backup logs if you think it’ll help.

Other than this little issue, thanks for a great plugin! I’m going to let this latest runaway continue until after the next job runs to see what happens.

It worked once, but now it’s generating “File Not Exists” log entries and a “Not Found” page in the iframe on the status page.

I know the problem. i have it too on my hoster, but not in my development envoyerment.

the job works on with shedule.

i have changedthe output buffering a bit please test again.

The jobs have been working on schedule using .tar.gz and they don’t seem to be getting killed. (Of course, I did cut the data set by about 80%, so that must have something to do with it.)

However, after upgrading to the development version today I find I can no longer do a “Run Now”. I get a blank page in the iframe and nothing appears in the logs.

No successful backups since the day of my last post in this thread. The logs since seem to end during the database dump.

I’ll admit, I changed my settings around so it might be unrelated. I’d rather not open another thread, so I have to ask: What happens if I uncheck the options to back up the blog files but add directories (including the blog’s directory) to the text field? It doesn’t seem to be backing up the blog directory if I don’t check those boxes.

Another update: Using .tar.gz in the development version, my backups seem to be succeeding. For the moment, at least, this issue is resolved. I can’t wait for the final 1.0.0 release. ??
