I just installed BackWPup, 1.3.5. (at 10:30 am, Pacific Standard Time, 9/11/10).

My host is 1&1 internet. I am on a shared server, running Linux and Apache, PHP 5.2.14, MySQL 5.0.18. I am running WordPress 3.0.1.

This looks like a GREAT plug-in, very powerful and I am anxious to use it.

However, I could not get it to work. I downloaded and installed the plugin. I checked settings and saw that it defaults to creating a backup and storing it within my site. That is OK to begin with, so I did not make any changes to the default settings when I configured my first backup “job”. When I clicked on the run now link for the backup job I created, I received the following error message. (I have hidden the root directory information in the error message below to protect the security of my site.)

Parse error: syntax error, unexpected T_STRING, expecting T_FUNCTION in /[DIRECTORY INFO HIDDEN IN THIS POST FOR SECURITY REASONS]/wp-content/plugins/backwpup/app/backwpup_dojob.php on line 950

I then attempted to set-up the job to back up the file to another ftp server. When I attempted to run the job I received the same error message.

So, I uninstalled the plug-in from within the WP Plugins administrator page and then manually deleted the remaining plugin subdirectories left after the uninstall. Then I downloaded the plugin again from the WP extensions site and installed again using the WP install function. I tried different backup settings again and continued to get the same error message, no matter what I tried.

If there is a problem, I hope this information is helpful in resolving it. If there is something I have done wrong, any assistance would be appreciated.

    Thanks.
