[Plugin: Basic Google Maps Placemarks] BGMP 1.9-rc1 available

I just installed 1.9RC and it is working well with no issues (tested so far in IE8, Firefox, Chrome, opera and Safari). I love this new feature ?? It has the added benefit of being able to quickly zoom into a section of the map simply by clicking on a marker cluster, rather than the old zoom-and-then-drag the map back into the center (or drag-and-then-zoom) which could be rather tedious. And, of course, my maps with lots of placemarks now load faster. A winner all around ??

I am having a problem with the page containing the map magnifying beyond the screen size when viewing on mobile…particularly IPhone as it looks fine on the android. Wondering if you know a trick to stop this from happening or if you are even offering support for mobile devices. I hate asking but my client of course has an iphone…hah! The site is:

Hi jwing, can you try disabling the meta viewport tag, and letting me know if that fixes it?

Yes, actually I was pretty sure I had already done that and I checked, it’s not there…I saw the post regarding this fix and did follow those instructions with no luck. Just to be sure, this tag would be in header.php correct? I will check functions also

FYI, the functions.php file for this theme is a bit unusual. It has css and some html in it. Can’t help but think it may have something to do with it. I have a lot to learn about php and html so bear with me if I sound like I don’t know what I’m talking about. Just not used to seeing that much alternate code other than php in a functions.php file. Most of the code deals with the header img styling and background image.

The ideal place to put the code that disables the viewport tag is in a functionality plugin, but most people just put it in their theme’s functions.php for simplicity. You shouldn’t place it in header.php, it probably won’t work there because it needs to run before the template starts to be output.

Placing HTML and CSS in the functions.php file is a bad practice, so it may indicate that the theme developers are inexperienced and that the theme’s code is low quality and possibly has security vulnerabilities. It shouldn’t affect the viewport code, though.
