What browser, version of WordPress, version of bbPress, and version of bbPress Threaded Replies are you using?

    Hi Jennifer,

Thanks for getting back to this.

    WordPress 3.4.2, BuddyPress 1.6.1, bbPress 2.1.2, your plugin 0.4.2
In other words, all latest versions.

What pertains browsers – thanks for bringing this to attention.
I’ve tested in Opera 12.02 and Firefox 17.0 – both running in Win7 Ultimate x64.

Opera. I know this sounds weird, but it’s somewhat sporadic ?? Sometimes it’s OK (centered), sometimes it’s partially off the screen – either to the top or to the bottom.
But in Opera it always (at least, I haven’t yet noticed it to go completely off) stays visible – sometimes partially, but visible.

Firefox. A bit sporadic too, but it’s always off the screen, either to the top or to the bottom. Maybe in 1 try out of 50 it gets partially visible and in 1 out of 100 it’s centered.

    Hope this helps.

It sounds a lot like there’s an issue with the JavaScript that tries to focus on the moved reply textbox. When you click on “Reply” at the bottom of a reply, does the textbox move to that reply, or does it stay at the bottom of the page?

The reply box appears in correct location – right under the post where Reply link was clicked.
But at the very same time the page scrolls up/down sporadically, so the focus on reply box is lost.

I hope I understood your question correctly ??

That is exactly what I needed to know. Thanks for your help! I’ll try to replicate this and fix it.

Also, it doesn’t look like this depends on a theme. I’ve tested with 3 themes, the behaviour doesn’t change.

Good to know. Fair warning, JavaScript is not my strong suit. I’ll do my best to track this down.

Does the random page scroll happen if “Use the fancy WordPress editor to create and edit topics and replies” under Settings > Forums is not checked?

Yes, but now it behaves like it used to in Opera – meaning the reply box remains visible, but sometimes it’s centered, sometimes it goes partially off the screen up/downwards.
Also, I’ve noticed it sometimes becomes slightly different in height.

Jennifer, did you have a chance to investigate this issue?

    (@jmdodd)

I have tried but have been unable to reproduce it. The JS I’m using to move the reply box around is based on that used to move the comment box around in posts, so I’m not sure where I’ve gone wrong. I have an email out to a friend who does much more work in JS to see if they can identify the issue.

One more question, what theme are you using?

We’ve tried Salutation, Network (by WPMUDev) and default theme.

Taking a cue from the way comments are handled by WordPress, I’ve removed the Fancy Editor from threaded replies.
