[Plugin: Better WP Security] Multisite problem

I have the same problem with WP 3.5.1 multisite and Better WP Security 3.4.8.

Does anybody know how to solve this, so I can activate the plugin for all sites and not only for the main site?

Correct me if I’m wrong.

AFAIK, activated from network dashboard means it will activated for all of your site (main and subs).

This plugin is for total protection, so it will not and it can’t be activated for protect only some or a single site (for example main site only).

For protection, it will modify your .htaccess file. This file will have effects on all of its sites (main and subs). That’s why it only can be activated for all nor only some of the sites.

Same question as Handoko – just want to make sure I don’t need to enable on a per-site basis as other multisite plugins such as Login Lockdown.

You must goto Network Admin to activate this plugin. Once activated, it will be active for all sub sites and the main site.

You don’t need and can not activate it on sub sites.

At first I thought I had to do some settings per site, but after all that isn’t necessary.

Now I have set the login page hidden and that work ok for the main site, but when I try to open the login page of a domain mapped subsite it doesn’t work.
It looks like CSS isn’t loading well and when I fill out username and PW I can’t login.
This is why I thought there should be per-site settings. The code in the .htaccess for hiding the login page only affects the main site, but (in my case) messes up the login page for subsites (with domain mapping).
I think I have to insert the code in .htaccess by hand for hiding login pages other than the login for the main page.
Does anyone know more about this?

Not very sure but these features have potential to cause problem, because they may conflict with other plugins:
– Content Directory
– Database Prefix
– Filter Request Methods
– Filter Suspicious Query Strings
– Prevent long URL strings

Did you enable any feature above? Changing the Content Directory usually will cause problems with multisite environment, and the bad news are, you can’t change it back it requires lots of work to repair once you enable the feature.

My suggestions (for mark_m):

1. Try to keep this Better WP Security activated but disable all features to see if your issue still happens.

2. Then try to enable the Hide Backend, and see if the issue will happen.

3. If you’re using any caching plugin, you should only activate the caching plugin after you have make Better WP Security works correctly.

4. Try to use other theme to see if the issue still happens.
