[Plugin: Better WP Security] Uses Up a Lot of Memory!

    The difference in total memory consumption on our server with and without the WP Better Security plugin enabled is about 800MB. It does not seem to work with a PHP memory limit below 64MB per instance, and on two different servers with resonable but not enormous traffic loads (a few thousand uniques per month), the memory load ballooned to over 800MB additional just from A/B testing with this plugin activated or deactivated. Really, that’s not a tradeoff we’re wiling to make in a cloud environment where memory is precious. Have you considered optimising this plugin at all?

  • I’m having the same memory issues with this plugin. My server locked up several times using this. Sure, Better WP Security helps a lot with securing my blog, but with the frequent memory problems, I’m not sure it’s worth the trade-off.

    Based on my experience, these features can consume much memory:
    – File Change Detection
    – Database Backup

    Try to disable them and see if it helps.
