• The plugin blocked the Google Bot from indexing my website. I recognized that only as I looked in my Webmastertools and I got a bunch of 404’s. Allthough all sites were accessable for me, the Google Bot was blocked. I am not sure what settings were responsible for that as I directly deleted the plugin to prevent further damage to the website and it’s rankings.

If the IP of the Google bot exists in the 3rd party’s database it could potentially be blocked. Although I never experienced it myself it’s not impossible.

That said the plugin doesn’t produce the HTTP response code 404. If a spammer is caught the response code 500 is returned. Getting a bunch of 404’s in the Webmaster tools might indicate a different problem.

It’s a shame we can’t try to solve the issue now as you, understandably, tried to solve the 404 problem.

Yes, I am really sorry! But after deactivating the plugin, the GoogleBot came back and all was good.
