• Hi!

I’ve run into a weird problem, where some of the users of my weblog get blank post.php pages in certain situations, and only since I installed PowerPress. The only one that I’ve been able to reproduce is when I add an URL to an mp3 in the PowerPress field as one of my users; this gives a blank post.php. It works when I’m logged in as myself, however, suggesting that this might have something to do with user rights.

I’ve recently made a very considerable move from FeedBurner with nearly ten podcasts to a self-hosted option with PowerPress and I would hate to have to stop using PowerPress as I’ve been very impressed with it so far. What do you think might be causing this?

Clarification, when I say “This gives me a blank post.php” above, I mean when I save the post as pending or as draft. It’s as if the addition of information in the URL window causes the submission to choke, but only when submitting as a non-administrator.

You can get faster response for PowerPress issues at the blubrry.com forums, forum.blubrry.com.

Is this with a clean install of WordPress, or an install that has had plugins in the past modify roles/capabilities? What you are describing makes me think that some of your publishers/editors have special capabilities other than WordPress defaults, if it is actually a PowerPress conflict. But PowerPress hooks do not make pages go blank, you would either see a “permission denied” screen, or the podcast data would simply not save.

I’ve seen wacky behavior caused by caching plugins. If your using a caching plugin, it is good practice to re-cache everything after you enable/disable plugins.

The blank page can also be caused by running out of memory. Make sure your php scripts have plenty of memory, the more plugins you install the more memory you will need.
