    Hi,
I have this problem. Users cannot create subgroups unless they join a group, so the option of allowing everyone to create a subgroup isn’t working. This problem happend when I choose to show only the tree groups in the group tab.
    Thanks!

    Hi juams,

So if you don’t hide the flat group list, users can still add subgroups without being members? The two are not supposed to be related, so I’m very curious to hear more details.

Also, have you checked whether those groups are available in the “Parent” dropdown when creating a new group from the main group list page?

Yes, the users can add subgroups without being members, if I don’t hide the flat group list.
When the users can create groups when they join to any group, and those groups are available in the main group list page, inside the parents groups.

Other thing that is wrong is that the tab “groups” doesn’t appear properly. When I choose other tab, the color of the tab follows the color of the page. But, the “group” tab doesn’t do that. It keeps its color. I have the default theme.

I am not able to reproduce this problem. Even with the flat group list hidden, non-members can’t see the “Create a Member Group” button or select a group set to “Members Only” from the parent group dropdown.

Can you provide some more details on your setup, including any other plugins installed and your WP/BP versions?

    Hi there

Have set to “no-one” can create groups in settings – but as a subscriber – the create group” button is still visible?

    Hi Simon –

For future questions, please create a new thread so I can track different problems more effectively.

Have you disabled group creation in BuddyPress settings? In the dashboard go to Settings > BuddyPress > Settings, then look under group settings.

Please let me know whether this resolves the problem for you!

    Hi David

Thanks for getting back to me – no joy.

    In the plugin settings:
Toplevel Groups (Set to Nobody) Select who is allowed to create toplevel groups. Super admins can always create toplevel groups.

    Buddypress settings
    Groups Settings
Group Creation Enable group creation for all users
Administrators can always create groups, regardless of this setting.
    This is deselected.

If you can create an account (default role subscriber) – you will see the create group option is still visible.

    Regards
    Simon

    Hi inverstoreports –

WordPress plugin SVN seems to be on a break right now, but I have been able to reproduce the issue you described and a fix is on the way. Thank you very much for reporting the problem!

    Hi Simon,

A new version has just been released which includes the fix. I apologize for the delay; I got hit with the flu and am just coming out of it.

Please let me know how the new release works for you!
