    Hi volpv,

    Thanks for asking.
I end up with making groups that I don’t want to display in the sidebar, subgroups.

Say I have 10 groups in total and I want to display only 3 of them in the sidebar widget. I create 11th group called something generic (eg “Custom Group”) and put 7 groups underneath it (ie. I make them subgroups of that Custom Group). As a result I have only 3 top groups. So when I use the sidebar widget that display top groups only, only that 3 appears.

    Kind of a workaround ??
Ability to mark a group a “featured group” or something would better suit the initial need, but as far as I know it is not possible in the BP Group Hierarchy at the moment.

If you know any better solution, give a yell!
    Thanks heaps

    Cheers

    (Correction for the above)
4 top groups will display – 3 that I need and the 4th which is Custom Group

    Hi Expana,

Many thanks for sharing your solution ??
The other solution I found was an old thread https://wpmu.org/daily-tip-how-to-exclude-a-group-from-the-loop-in-buddypress/
Buddypress says now their bp_has_group() accepts exclude parameters as well but I am still to find a way how to use it in widget_logic

    Kind Regards

    Hi volpv,
    Fantastic! Thanks heaps for sharing!
It would be interesting to know how you progress with this – I’m not very savvy in hacking widgets ??

    Cheers
