I get ‘settings not saved’ messages and a PHP warning in WordPress 3.1 – won’t save settings.

    Below settings page content:

“Warning: array_key_exists() [function.array-key-exists]: The second argument should be either an array or an object in /var/sites/s/sundaycodesmash.com/public_html/wp-content/plugins/breadcrumb-navxt/breadcrumb_navxt_admin.php on line 581”

    And on save:

The following settings were not saved:
    separator
    max_title_length
    home_title
    home_prefix
    home_suffix
    home_anchor
    … etc (lots more)

    Thanks!

This isn’t 3.1 related. It is install related. This is also the wrong place to report this specific error (there was a nice link in the error telling you where to report it). You should have received a message stating that stated that “Your install is incomplete” or “Your settings are out of date” when you first entered the settings page with an link for you to click to “complete install” or “update settings”. Some people have ignored this message that causes the issue you are seeing. In some other cases these messages are not showing up.

The immediate work around is to use the settings reset in the Import/Export/Reset form. To do this, on the Breadcrumb NavXT settings page, click the “Import/Export/Reset” tab in the upper right hand corner next to the “Help” tab. On the menu that drops down, click the Reset button. Now your settings will be reset and you should be able to save.

Hey dude, thanks for the quick reply!

Yeah, I got that message about updating or fixing settings, and clicked it, but it was straight back to erroring afterwards. I’ll try a full re-install now and see what happens.

Well that message won’t fix anything if you already saw the error. If you just do the settings reset everything should be fine (no need to reinstall).

    Hi mtekk

I had the same problem on a clean WordPress 3.1 installation. There where no messages like “Your install is incomplete” or “Your settings are out of date”.

A reset fixed my problem. Thanks.

I dont have an import/export/reset tab. Not sure how to fix this error. Running WP 3.1 multisite. Any other way to do a reset?

In this case, you should be able to deactivate the plugin and then activate it. This should run the install script and the settings page should then work as expected.

Looks like it is a custom taxonomy problem. i have a custom post_type and taxonomy. I’ll have to search around on the forums. Youve probably already answered my problem.
