I’m running into an issue with this plugin messing with the Dashboard. When the plugin is active the only thing visible on the Dashboard is the “At A Glance” Section and the side and top navigation menus. The “Screen Options” drop-down that toggles dashboard sections doesn’t respond to clicks, either.

The Dashboard returns to normal once this plugin is deactivated.

    Hi joeledbetter,

I’m sorry to hear you are having this issue.

Do you log errors on your site? If so, the error log could provide some answers for us.

That’s strange that it’s breaking the Admin like that. I would like to ask you more questions, including which WordPress versions you are using, and get a list of plugins from you so I see if there are compatibility issues going on here. Also, please include the version PHP if you know it. If you are not comfortable posting all of that publicly, you can use the Support form and send it to me in private.

I will be looking into this issue. The more info you can provide, the more helpful that will be as I try to fix this.

Just released a new version 1.1.3.3 that should take care of the issue.

    Hi Scott,
Thanks a bunch for your help with this!

I do run error logs on my site. It’s giving me tons of these:

2014-04-30 21:04:51.965 [NOTICE] [xx.xx.xx.xx:xxxxxxxxxxxx] [STDERR] PHP Warning: include() [function.include]: Failed opening ‘/chroot/home/XXXXX/XXXXXXXXXX/XXXX/includes/src/wpSpamShield.php’ for inclusion (include_path=’/chroot/home/XXXXXX/XXXXXX/XXXXX/includes/src:.:/usr/share/pear’) in /chroot/home/XXXXXX/XXXXXXX/XXXXXX/includes/src/Varien_Autoload.php on line 93

We are using WordPress V. 3.8.1

    List of plugins:
    Breadcrumb NavXT
    Collapsing Archives
    Quick Page/Post Redirect Plugin
    Wordbook

Another interesting quirk I noticed when pulling the plugin list: wp-spamshield doesn’t show up in the list of active plugins (or the ALL list for that matter). I can verify the plugin is installed as I can access the settings and it shows ” Installation Status: Installed Correctly”

    Hi joeledbetter,

You’re very welcome! I’m always happy to help. ?? So I just would like to confirm…is the new version working better for you?

One thing…I would recommend upgrading to WP 3.8.2 at the very least as it’s a security release, or 3.9 (recommended). Just for the safety of your site…ultimately up to you though.

If you still have the issue…would you mind contacting me through the WP-SpamShield Support Form? I’d like to get some more info and possibly look at the unredacted error log messages if that is ok with you.
