    Hello,

My problem is that when the plugin is activated I can no longer type in my visual editor of posts or pages. The toolbar also completely disappears. The text editor continues to operate normally.

Also when in the Add Gallery/Images section, nothing happens when I click the Upload Images link, however it does say “Your browser doesn’t have Silverlight, HTML5, or HTML4 support.” Nothing is displayed in the gallery settings tab.

WordPress up to date? pretty much, 4.4
    – NextGEN up to date? yes
    – What version of NextGEN Gallery did you upgrade from?
I had 2.0.61, now I have 2.1.23. But I’ve had this problem since 1.3.4 (when I got the plugin).
(please confirm the following, with your server host tech) :
    – MySQL up to date (at least 5.0)? yes, 5.1.73
    – PHP up to date (at least 5.2.4)? yes, 5.3.3
    – The mod_rewrite Apache module activated? yes
    – PHP Safe Mode OFF? yes

Additional information that will help us find a solution:
    – Who are you hosted with? self-hosting
    – What theme are you running? Twenty Fifteen
    – Which plugins do you have installed and activated? Besides NextGEN, none
    – Does this error still occur if you switch your theme to a WordPress Twenty series theme and deactivate all plugins except NextGEN Gallery? (please be sure to clear your browser cache and reload your site after deactivating) Yes

Thank you for your fast response!

I have only tried reinstalling it,and scanned through some of your forums. The issue was just tabled for a while as we didn’t know what else to try.

    I don’t see Server Setttings.

It has a box with the number of photos, galleries, and albums and a box about NextGEN and a do you like this plugin box

@jzong002 – Is this a Multisite installation you are working with?

    (@jzong002)

Yes, for my school we selfhost a multinetwork multisite system. I apologize I thought I put that in the first post.

We use WP Multi-Network, multisite content copier, mutlisite theme manager, multisite plugin manager, and multisite privacy plugins to manage it.

@jzong002 – What changed on the site(s) affected (is it all sites, some, or just one?) since the last time NextGEN Gallery was working as expected?

    Thread Starter jzong002

    (@jzong002)

It never worked correctly, no changes have been noted as the behavior is the same across all sites and users.

@jzong002 – Have you tried deactivating all of your plugins, clearing your browser cache (and site caches if you are using a caching plugin), then reactivating the NextGEN plugin?

If this fixes the problem then it was likely one of the deactivated plugins that was causing an issue. Now, retrace your steps activating each plugin and re-checking to see if the problem returns. If it does then that last activated plugin was probably the one. Keep reactivating and in most cases it is also best to keep checking after each plugin, sometimes there may be more than one plugin on a site that will create an issue. If you do find one (or more) plugins causing this problem we would greatly appreciate your feedback on them so the developers may address them as soon as they can.

Also to note, in rare cases it may be the theme itself that is causing a conflict so while you have just the NextGEN plugin activated you might consider temporarily switching to one of the default WordPress Twenty series themes and see if this corrects the issue as well.

If the problem still persists after all of this we would still want to know, even more so, as we will still want to sort out the issue and may need additional details.

    Thanks!

I deactivated all plugins (even the network-wide ones), cleared my cache, and activated NextGEN, all while using twenty fifteen. No luck the problem persists.

@jzong002 – Please try our external Reset Tool plugin here: https://bitbucket.org/photocrati/nextgen-gallery-reset/get/default.zip

To install and activate, go to Plugins > Add New … Upload Plugin
To use, go to Tools > NextGEN Gallery Reset

We do not offer specific support for the Reset Tool plugin as is but it can help in many circumstances, please let us know if it does.

    Thanks!

The reset did not change it. I made sure to switch off all plugins, use a default theme, clear the cache, run the reset but no dice. I was also doing this on an admin level account (should resolve any permissions issues). Thanks for your continued help in this matter.
