  • Hi there,

We’re just tidying up the support forums for our plugins and noticed you never received a response on this thread from our staff. We’re sorry we missed the thread, but we’re glad to see a solution was provided. I’ll pass this onto our devs for a patch up.

If the OP would kindly mark the thread as resolved it would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!

WPMU DEV was called out, so they now jump on a 9 month old post….quick action guys…maybe it took so long because this is regarding a free plugin and not one of your outrageous $39 a month ones.

This is how WPMU describes the plugin: “BuddyPress Activity Plus was created to provide the same ease that Facebook has when it comes to uploading and sharing media across the network.” Really?

I have read several forums where people are outright begging you guys to make this plugin better and do what it SHOULD be doing to be worth anything…but I guess cause it’s free, there’s no urgency…and yes, on a normal basis I DO have respect for developers who create plugins that are free. I have tons of patience with them too…BECAUSE they charge nothing. But WPMU makes money hand over fist selling the same product over and over again, while throwing a few “free” bones once in awhile while they collect $39 from God knows how many people per month.
I see how they “pacify” their paying customers by saying “we’ll see how many other members request the same feature and we’ll decide then”. Then months later, the same poor soul who requested the features has to reach out to WPMU…again…and ask “what did you decide” and they are told “Sorry, not enough members requested those features” Seriously? One of those features that was requested is the SAME issue discussed in this thread! If they would have listened to the feature then, this thread wouldn’t exist now. This is the post with the requests. https://premium.wpmudev.org/forums/topic/three-feature-requests-for-buddypress-activity-plus-plugin

Each request is a needed one. especially if WPMU wants to live up to their description of the plugin. As you can see that post was over a year ago and this plugin STILL can’t make individual albums LIKE FACEBOOK. Also, when you view most posts regarding problems with this plugin, like this thread, it’s the MEMBERS wsho find the solution while the PAID DEVELOPERS say “Wow, didn’t realize no one responded to this post yet. Oh cool! you found a solution. Moderator, please mark this as resolved because our unpaid members just gave us the solution to the problem.”

Now, the one plugin out there that IS capable (Buddypress Media)of creating seperate albums, is now conflicting with Activity Plus. The links do not work unless I deactivate Buddypress Media, but since I need more than ONE photo album AND the link feature for my members, and WPMU developers would rather improve their paid plugins first, I am forced to seek help.

Since I am not a paying WPMU member, nor will I ever be, I can not expect a solution from them. So, I will contact the developers of Buddypress Media and ask them for a fix around to make WPMU’s plugin work too. I am sure Jan will attempt to “put me in my place like she/he? did with Donald, who actually pays $39 a month to be told to code his own plugin…wow… Last time I checked, we live in a country that you should be able to speak your piece and not be talked down by someone…people are so brave behind a keyboard, aren’t they?…

    Hey sugartoys

I’m not sure if your code ever made it to our developer, I’ve informed him so he’s aware.

Thanks for dropping that in here, real appreciated!

Looks like you’ve helped a few people here, and I believe you have an account with us.

Please use our contact forms and address a message to me whilst linking back to this thread. As a thank you, I’ll sub you some free membership! ??

    Hey Lisalooch.

Well, I’m not so sure where we were apparently “called out”, certainly not why we’re jumping on old threads. ??

We’re jumping on older threads because we have more resources available to offer free support, on free products, developed free. Part of this drive is to provide better support in locations like these forums, which traditionally didn’t take priority, because our paying customers obviously came first.

It costs money to employ staff to provide free support, not everyone volunteers to help others like you do, out of the kindness of your heart. *checking other posts in your profile* Actually, it seems you like to post rants on www.ads-software.com. I don’t see you giving back to help others in the WordPress community.

I’m not sure that using the WordPress support forums is really the platform for this sort of thing, it really is a support community where people come together to help each other out.

Last time I checked, we live in a country that you should be able to speak your piece and not be talked down by someone…people are so brave behind a keyboard, aren’t they?…

    Pot and Kettle?

Is this a country called internet? Because last time I checked it was the “World Wide Web”.

Surely Jan is entitled to the same privileges as you, right?

And certainly doesn’t appear to have been speaking down to anyone.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing all your freely coded plugins being handed out here along with you’re own quality support to assist other members with WordPress and every issue that comes up.

Take care and have a fantastic day!
