[Plugin: BuddyPress Group Email Subscription] Newbie Question – Where is Emails sent from?

Sorry I’m not a IT expert, just self learn WordPress all the way.
Would like to know for this plugin, where is the email sent from? Do I need to set a custom email address for the notification email?
And if it’s sent through my domain’s email address, will it clog up my email space over time?
